Newsletter 61 from the Head of Department

Dear All, Thank you for a cozy and festive joint IOOS Christmas party in Stakladen with lively conversation and a jam-packed dance floor. Here is the last newsletter of the year before a well-deserved festive season break begins.

INTERNAL AT THE INSTITUTE

Rector is coming to visit IOOS in February: Tick your calendar and send questions

Every year, Rector Brian Bech Nielsen visits all the departments at Aarhus University, and on Monday 5 February 2024 at 14.30-16.00 he makes his way to IOOS (Panacea, room 1613-049). After a short welcome from me, Rector will give a presentation on how things are going at Aarhus University, and then followed by a dialogue between Rector and staff on topics that you would like to discuss with him. We have a golden opportunity to express what we are working with and towards, and what can help us further.

Send questions or topics to Maja Thomsen (maja@dent.au.dk) before 15 January 2024, so that we can manage the time and so that Rector can prepare before the meeting. Everyone is of course also welcome to freely ask questions at the meeting itself.

The university elections 2023 have been decided: Here are our representatives

The votes have been counted after the elections to the university's democratic bodies, and the new teams have been appointed to the Academic Council, the study boards and the PhD committee. IOOS has representatives in all the aforementioned forums at the Faculty of Health, and it is really good and important that IOOS also has a voice in the bodies that extend further than the institute. Thank you to all of you who put a lot of effort into the study boards, the Academic Council and the PhD committee on behalf of all of us at IOOS. It is greatly appreciated that you bring your expertise and IOOS knowledge into the formal forums at the university and take your newly acquired knowledge back to the department, so that the work you do in the committees comes into play in the daily life of the department.

In the article "Uni elections: See the new representatives" you can see who represents IOOS in the various committees.

Peter Stoustrup takes part in the TV program DR Kontant

Associate Professor and Section Head Peter Stoustrup, Section for Orthodontics, takes part in the broadcast as an expert and tells, among other things, how important the right education and the necessary skills are when you, as a patient or practitioner, start with orthodontics.

The broadcast "Kontant: Stivnede smil - Condensed smiles [In Danish]" was broadcast on DR on 23 November 2023 and can be streamed on DRTV. Peter Stoustrup participates app. 5 min. into the broadcast.
